The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail The two-act play is basedon the early life of Henry David Thoreau leading up to his night spent in jail in Concord, Mass. Thoreau remembers earlier parts of his life including his time in jail because he refused to pay taxes to support the Mexican-American War. |
