Stacy Hansen (Guest Director) Stacy’s passion for theatre/
speech education was kindled at ISU, where she was active
onstage as well as off in all things theatrical. She graduated
in 1992 with a BA in Speech Communication/Theatre and
Secondary Education. She broadened her education with the
theatre community at Chicago’s College of Performing Arts at
Roosevelt University where she received her MA in Directing.
Stacy taught theatre and speech at Clinton High School for
eight years. Since 2001, she has served as West Des Moines
Valley High School’s Drama Director and IHSSA Director. She
is most grateful to be a member of the learning community
in the West Des Moines District where the focus is always on
the spirit, the success, and the soulful safety of the individual
student’s journey into adulthood.
Among her many joys, she places her family at the top.
Through the loving support of her husband Derek and the
always energy and enthusiasm of her children Lincoln and
Scout, she experiences the world anew each day.
Stacy’s greatest professional successes are found in the
successes of her own students who have found their way to
Broadway, to Second City, and to fulfilling their life’s journey
across the world. The personal relationships that develop
among students, families, and schools continue to fuel her
passion for teaching and directing. She truly believes that
something can always be learned from each student in every
moment of life.
It is indeed, a great and humbling honor for her to be back
home with ISU Theatre—a place that opened its arms to her
and allowed her to take flight not so long ago.
