by Lanford Wilson

October 3-5 & 10-12, 2008
Fisher Theater

Set in rural Missouri in 1977, "The Fifth of July" revolves around the Tally family and their friends, and on the disillusionment with America in the wake of the Vietnam War. A gay, paraplegic Vietnam veteran, Kenneth Talley, Jr., is living in his childhood home with his boyfriend botanist. On the holiday weekend, Ken is visited by his sister and a group of friends who spent their college years together as activists as they try to reconcile real life with their dreams. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Play in 1981.
